Warangal: YSR Congress Party in the district is set to face a major setback if the ongoing political developments in the party are any indication. The Konda couple, considered to be the face of the party in Warangal district has been maintaining distance from the party affairs for the last few months. They are said to be sulking as the party high command was keeping them at a distance. The party leadership has not consulted them while making the appointments of constituency coordinators unilaterally.

The suspension of a few of their followers by the party high command for protesting over the appointments of YSRCP coordinators last month has aggravated the issue further. Though neither Surekha nor Muralidhar Rao has expressed any displeasure openly over the appointments, the protest demonstrations by their followers at the party office and locking up of the office gates, are considered to be done at their behest. Previously whenever rumours surfaced over their quitting party, they denied vehemently. But this time, they maintained a stoic silence and maintained a distance from the media.

According to the party sources, the appointment of the constituency coordinators is done directly by the party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy and the party Telangana in-charge S Ramakrishna Reddy implemented them. Suspension threat was used to nip the dissidence in the bud. Sources close to them said that they are mulling over options of joining Congress or sailing with BJP seriously. BJP state chief G Kishan Reddy said to be ready to welcome them into the party.

The BJP leaders said they were ready to admit them because Surekha boldly voiced her pro-Telangana sentiments in even though she was in YSRCP. Konda Surekha and her husband Muralidhar Rao are likely to come out with a statement over their political future in a couple of days, sources close to them said.
