jeeWarangal: Thousands of JEE aspirants and their parents arrived here on Saturday as numerous governmental, non-governmental agencies and individuals welcomed the visitors. The roads and streets of tri-cities of Warangal-Hanamkonda-Kazipet were choked with streams of vehicles and the students appearing for JEE-2013 to be held on Sunday for admission to undergraduate engineering courses at NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded institutions. The examination would be held at 61 centres where about 36000 students would appear for the test. This time scores of organizations have come forward and set up helpline centres, accommodation and also food to the students free of cost, keeping in view of last year's bitter experiences wherein the students faced problems in getting food and a place to stay. Urban Superintendent of Police A Venkateswar Rao informed the press persons that elaborate security arrangements were made for the smooth flow of traffic and to help the visitors reach their destinations easily. Seven DSPs, 21 circle inspectors, 37 sub-inspectors, 141 ASIs and head constables, 438, 27 woman police constables and 301 Home Guards were deployed across the tri-cities for the purpose, he added. Helpline centres were set up by the urban police in association with Lions Club at 16 important junctions. Similarly, TRS Youth wing volunteers, KU JAC workers, Congress workers were camping at important places to guide and help the students and parents. Khammam: The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains will be held in Khammam town on April 7. The examination will be held at 12 centres in Khammam town where a total of 6,515 students are expected to write the first paper and 2,520 students are expected to appear for the second paper (Architecture) on Sunday. Speaking to the media here on Saturday, Parvathi Reddy, Coordinator of the JEE Exams, said that for the first time, the Khammam town would be hosting the JEE Mains exams and all arrangements had been made for the smooth conduct of the exams.
