crpp2 Warangal: The leaders of Committee for Release of Political Prisoners (CRPP) have demanded the State Government to release the human rights activists lodged at different jails. The AP Charter of the committee marking the 82nd death anniversary of Bhagath Singh has been gearing up to highlight the plight of prisoners. The CRPP has planned to observe 'political prisoners rights week' from March 23 to 29. The committee, along with several human rights organizations such as Viplava Rachayitala Sangham (Virasam), Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee, Telangana Praja Front, Chaitanya Mahila Sangham, TVV, KNPS, DTF and PKS, is organizing a series of programmes. The CRPP vice president of A Narasimha Reddy has informed the press persons here that on March 23 a day-long meeting would be held at Kakatiya University Arts and Science College auditorium. A relative of Bhagath Singh, Prof. Jagmohan Singh, MLC Chukka Ramaiah, senior journalists K Ramachadra Murthy, Allam Narayana, K Srinivas, revolutionary poet Varavara Rao, rights activists Madabhushi Sridhar, Akula Bhumaiah, P Jayamma and others would address the gathering. Similar programmes would also be held at Visakhapatnam on March 24 and on March 25 in Hyderabad where the family members of political prisoners would address a press conference. The above events would be followed by a convention at Ongole on March 26 and a press conference by family members of political prisoners at Bhdrachalam in Khammam district on March 28, Narasimha Reddy added. He expressed serious concern over the condition of political prisoners and prisoners in general. He said the rights of the prisoners have been violated grossly even as the constitution provided enough provisions for their care while serving the jail term. The CRPP state general secretary Balla Ravindranath, district leader Marka Ramaswamy, APCLC district in-charge Ananthula Suresh, TPF district convener B Rama Devi, CMS district unit leader J Kala, Virasam leader M A Bhasith and others accused the state government of implementing 'black laws' to curb the people's movements. Those who were fighting for the cause of public were being branded as Maoists and being put behind bars and being harassed by the police and even were killed infake encounters, they complained. As an example they referred to the alleged kidnap of a tribal rights activist Vajam Somaiah by police from Warangal recently.A The CRPP leaders mainly stressed on the unconditional release of political prisoners and prisoners who completed 10 years of jail term including the remission period.
