Warangal: With the aim of uplifting Dalits and Girijans, the State Government had planned to implement SC-ST Sub-Plan for their welfare, stated Government Chief Whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy.A He garlanded the portrait of Babu Jagjivan Ram on the occasion of his 106th birth anniversary at Ambedkar Bhavan in Hanamkonda on Friday.

Addressing the gathering, he said that now the money allocated for the development and welfare of the oppressed sections would be utilised only for them and it is a landmark move proposed by the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for uplifting downtrodden.

Gandra said that with the funds allotted for SC-STs, Government would take up construction of schools, roads, housing units, drinking water schemes and other facilities for the oppressed sections.

He further said that KalaJata programmes would be held as a part of Indiramma dreams programme to bring awareness among the Dalits and Girijans on Government schemes being implemented for them. A We have to carry-on the ideals and objectives set by Jagjivan Ram for the welfare of the society, he added. Gandra clarified to the local artistes that their services would also be utilised in the Government propaganda.

Speaking on the occasion, Warangal MP Sircilla Rajaiah said that Jagjivan was great humanitarian and shown the right path to the people of the country. He said that SC-ST sub-plan would now benefit all the oppressed communities and lauded it as state Government's biggest achievement.

District Collector Rahul Bojja said that Jagjivan worked tirelessly for the welfare of weaker sections. Though SC-ST sub-plan was there in 5th and 6th 5-year plan, with the constitutional teeth, now 100 percent funds would be released for Social Welfare department and Rural Development departments, he revealed. Joint Collector P S Pradyumna, both SPs Venkateshwar Rao, G Palaraju, MLAs Anasuya, Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar and others took part in the programme.
