Warangal: A massive demonstration was held at District Collectorate by the members of AP IKP Animators (VOA) Association in support of their various demands here on Monday.A Bracing the hot summer heat, hundreds of Village Organisation Assistant (VOA) working under the Indira Kranthi Pathakam (IKP) staged a dharna asking the government to provide revised remuneration.
The association leaders were also demanding the government to issue appoint letters directly to the IKP animators designated as VOAs and fix minimum wages to all the assistants, to check the harassment of the assistants by the officials. A Association president M Madhavi and general secretary P Ramesh lamented that they were helping the Self Help Groups in book keeping, facilitating bridge loans and housing loans; but their services were not recognised.
The prices of essential commodities, fuel, power charges and all were on the increasing side but the VOAs remuneration was not increased. The state government should directly pay the remuneration and introduce a comprehensive human resource policy, Madhavi stated.
