Warangal : Tension prevailed for some time at Enumamula agricultural market as the traders refused to procure chilli produce following a 48 hour bandh call given by CPI (Maoist) Party.A A farmer called Guguloth Siri of Bapujigudem in Maripeda mandal in the district has poured petrol on the chilli bags and tried to consume a pesticide in a bid to commit suicide.

However, the security guards foiled his attempt and took him to the market officials.A On Friday about 15000 bags of chilli has arrived at the market. But hundreds of farmers who reached the market to sell the produce were upset after they came to know that traders would not buy the produce on Friday and Saturday.A In view of which the farmers staged demonstration demanding purchase of their produce and attempted to ransack the office.

The protesting farmers alleged that the traders wanted to trouble the farmers by stopping to buy the produce on the pretext of bandh.A "There was no bandh being observed outside the market and we have come all the way from the villages with a hope to sell the produce" said the protesting farmers. The market officials and the police who arrived on the spot spoke with the farmers and traders.

The protesting farmers have withdrawn their agitation as the traders promising to resume the purchases. Some of the farmers were given advances by the traders with an assurance to buy chilli on Monday.

Bandh impacts Agency villages Meanwhile, the impact of the Maoist bandh, called in protest against the recent Puwarti police encounter in Chattisgarh state where nine Maoists were killed, was felt to some extent in the agency villages in the district.

Though normal life was not affected, the business establishments in the Maoist affected villages were closed down. The public transportation was also affected as the buses were not operated in those villages.A The police deployment was made at problematic villages in view of the bandh.
