Minister releases Devadula waters

Warangal: Information Technology Minister Ponnala Laxamiah released Godavari waters under J Chokka Rao Devadula Lift Irrigation scheme to Tapasupalli reservoir in Cheryal mandal in the district on Sunday. He surprised all by taking bath in the waters after releasing it into the reservoir.

Later, addressing the gathering he said that projects like this would cater to the irrigation and drinking water needs of the people.

Mr. Ponnala, who was former Irrigation Minister, expressed satisfaction that his dream of Devadula waters being released to Warangal district was fulfilled. The reservoir had a capacity of 0.3 TMC as it caters to 19,000 acres through left canal while right canal caters to 48,000 acres. The ayacut under the reservoir caters to the agriculture fields under Bachchannapet, Cheryal and Maddur mandals.
