Warangal: Though the State government and the Ministers from the region promised to withdraw the cases booked against the Telangana activists, the rowdy sheets opened against the activists were not withdrawn till date. It may be recalled that the police opened rowdy sheets against Telangana Rashtra Samthi student’s wing general secretary K Vesudeva Reddy, State leaders Jorike Ramesh, Anil J, Darshan Singh, S Narsing and former sarpanch Rajender Yadav. The rowdy sheets were opened at Subedari, Kakatiya University, Hanamkonda and other police stations.

The police accused the activists of obstructing the convoy of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy during his visit to the district to attend the Kakatiya Festival inauguration in December 2012. Repeated appeals to the leaders of Congress and other political parties to exert pressure on the government to withdraw the rowdy sheets failed to yield any result. As a result the activists, who were students, are suffering, complained Telangana JAC steering committee member Prof. A Seetaram Naik, who brought the issue to the notice of Congress leaders, on many occasions. TRS MLA T Harish Rao, who was here to attend a private function on Friday, strongly condemned the opening of rowdy sheets and demanded the State government to immediately withdraw the same. He said that the issue would be raised in the ensuing session of the assembly.

He alleged the State government was acting with double standards and said the police, who failed to arrest the culprits for vandalising the statues of leaders like Rajiv Gandhi in Seemandhra, were targeting the Telangana activists. Protesting the opening of rowdy sheets on the Telangana activists, a large number of TRSV activists on Saturday organised a demonstration at Telangana Martyrs Memorial. They raised slogans against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. They held the Chief Minister responsible for the opening of history sheets on the activists. The Chief Minister is acting in a biased manner. He is letting off those persons, who damaged the statues of his own party leaders, while targeting those who protested peacefully, TRSV leader Sharath Chandra alleged. The TRSV activists threatened the government that they would launch an agitation if the rowdy sheets were not withdrawn with immediate effect.
