Ayush Expo begins

Madhapur: The three-day Ayush Expo, an exhibition-cum-workshops on Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturophathy, Unani, Siddha, Homoeopathy commenced at the Hitex here on Friday.

Dr A Rajender Reddy, Incharge Commissioner, Dr Gurumurthy, Dr Mir Yousuf Ali, Additional Directors of Department of Ayush, formally inaugurated the expo as well as the workshops.

While Dr Reddy addressed a session on “Relevance of Ayush Systems in Daily Life”, Dr Gurumuthy spoke on “Ayurvedic Solutions for Anorectic Diseases” and Dr Mir Yusuf Ali dwelt on “Fundamentals of Unani Systems”.

“Organic baby food suppliers, farmers' owned organic food start-up/s, organic vegetables produced without pesticide, herbicides, insecticides or fumigation; elder care services, ayurvedic therapy givers, aloe vera products sellers, herbal products suppliers and others are showcasing their products, said Madhavi, MD.

Dr Reddy exhorted people to decrease usage of antibiotics and pain killers and take a holistic approach while taking a treatment. “Today unfortunately allopathic treatment is compartmentalised. It is highly specialised organ wise, and no one gives holistic treatment,” he said, adding that excessive use of antibiotics and pain killers is dangerous.

Dr Reddy said over 60 exhibitors are showcasing their products and facilities at the exhibition. The entry is free, and the expo will operate from 10am to 8pm.
