Strengthening its efforts toward the ‘Swachh Bharat’ initiative, the GHMC announced the ‘Swachh Wards’ competition recently.

Hyderabad: Strengthening its efforts toward the ‘Swachh Bharat’ initiative, the GHMC announced the ‘Swachh Wards’ competition recently.

As part of the competition the wards will be ranked based on a set of parameters such as segregation at source into dry and wet waste, cleanliness of community and public toilets, cleaning of commercial areas, removal and beautification of garbage vulnerable points (GVPS), free of open urination / defecation / littering, bulk generators (hotels, gardens, function halls) practicing on site composting etc.

“This initiative will trigger a healthy competition among the wards and will help in maintaining the city neat and clean. To encourage the wards in this direction an amount of Rs 50 Lakh to award the best performing wards,” said a statement from GHMC.
GHMC will start ward level competitions from November.
