Hyderabad: Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University and Prof. G. Ram Reddy Memorial Trust jointly organised Prof. G. Ram Reddy memorial lecture on the occasion of his birth anniversary here on Monday.

Dr. R. V. Vaidyanathan Ayyar, former Secretary, Ministry of Culture & HRD, delivered a lecture on “Contributions of Prof. G. Ram Reddy to higher education”.
He emphasised on the leadership qualities of Prof. G. Ram Reddy for his vision and contribution in the distance learning and education.

He lauded Ram Reddy for his institutional par excellence in establishing Andhra Pradesh Open University (APOU), IGNOU and NACC. He hailed Ram Reddy as the chief architect of distance education in India.

Prof. Yatindra Singh Sisodia ,Director, Madhya Pradesh Institute of Social Science Research was bestowed with “ Social Scientist Award” for his remarkable contributions. He gave a lecture on “Decentralised Governance and people’s participation: Experiences from Central Indian States”.

Prof.K. Seetharama Rao, Vice Chancellor of BRAOU, presided.Prof. Hara Gopal, secretary of Prof. G. Ram Reddy Memorial Trust and Prof. V. S. Prasad, former VC of IGNOU, BRAOU graced the occasion along with Prameela Ram Reddy, Registrar Prof C. Venkataiah, Academic I/c Director Prof A .Sudhakar.
