Hyderabad: Prof M Jayananda, Head, Centre for Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Hyderabad (UoH), has been elected a Fellow of National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), a UoH press release said on Tuesday.

Jayananda has been invited to attend the 87th annual session of the NASI and symposium on "Basic Research – its Role in National Development" to be held from December 8 to10 at the Savitribai Phule Pune University, the release said.

He has served as a member in various national (DST, CSIR, UGC) and international (UNESCO-IUGS) science committees, it said. Prof. Jayananda has also served the global scientific community through intellectual leadership by editing journals as Editor-in Chief, Associate Editor and Editorial Board Member of several international and Indian journals.
