Hyderabad: Employment-oriented diploma courses were introduced at the Indo US Academy of Health and Hospital Administration (IAAHA). The academy was inaugurated on Saturday by OU Vice Chancellor Dr.Ramachandram at Indo-US Hospital, Malakpet. The academy is offering ten (10) courses approved by Osmania University in healthcare management and hospital administration.
The newly inaugurated academy in the hospital premises, which is managed by the Sahayata Trust, offers employment-oriented courses including advanced PG Diplomas in Echo Cardiography and Sonography, Emergency Medical Care, Anaesthesia Technology, Healthcare Management, Medical Informatics, Dialysis Technology, Operation Theatre Technology, Emergency Care, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Physician Assistant.
IAAHA Director Prof. Masood Ahmed said “There are nearly 9 lakh doctors in India who are registered, and the ratio of doctors to Indian population is 1:1600 against the WHO recommendation of 1:1000. Some underdeveloped countries like Chile have a much better ratio of 1 doctor for every 900 patients.
“These courses will help compensate the scarcity of doctors. The 2-year employment-oriented diploma course will cost Rs. 55,000 and candidates trained in these courses are in great demand in India as well as abroad.”
Osmania University Vice Chancellor Dr. S. Ramachandram, AIIMS Medical Superintendent Dr. Shakti Kumar Gupta, Sahayata Trust trustee Shahid Ghori were also present on this occasion. Earlier MLA Malakpet Ahmed Balala inspected the academy and hospital premises and congratulated the management.
The hospital, which is now in its 7th year, was started to provide medical care and assistance of highest standards at most affordable prices subsidized by Sahayata Trust, he said. 890 surgeries, of which 50-60 very complicated surgeries, were also performed. Admissions into these courses are through Osmania University with proper release of admission notification.
Speaking on the occasion Sahayata Trust CEO Syed Aneesuddin said “these courses are designed to provide employment opportunities to thousands of graduates seeking a career in healthcare management.” Any graduate with minimum one subject in life sciences (BSc.,BZc.,etc) are eligible for admission into these courses.
