UoH bags second prize at RBI Policy Challenge 2018
The team from University of Hyderabad (UoH) has won the second prize in the finals of RBI Policy challenge 2018. The students were given a topic titled \"Normalization in Advanced economies: Implications for India\".Â
Hyderabad: The team from University of Hyderabad (UoH) has won the second prize in the finals of RBI Policy challenge 2018. The students were given a topic titled "Normalization in Advanced economies: Implications for India".
The team of MA 2nd year students, School of Economics, University of Hyderabad, comprising of Soumyajit Ray, Atish Kumar, Pravesh Koli, Madhurima Chandra and guided by faculty advisor Prof Debashis Acharya worked on the topic for four hours.
The students made a presentation before an eminent jury comprising of Amartya Lahiri, Director, CAFRAL, Mumbai, Sanjeev Sanyal, Principal Economic Advisor, Govt. of India and Pranjul Bhandari, Chief India Economist, HSBC. The presentation was followed by question and answer from the jury. The team was given cash prize of Rs.50,000/- and a citation. Dr Viral V Acharya, Deputy Governor, RBI, felicitated the team.
The students had earlier won the zonal round of RBI policy challenge making it to finals held on April 26, 2018. In the zonal round the topic was Assessment of Recent Inflation Expectations Survey of Households and suggesting a suitable policy response.
The team made a presentation for 15 minutes before the jury comprising of Prof Shashanka Bhide, Director, MIDS, Prof M Suresh Babu, IIT Madras and Radhika Merwin, The Hindu Business Line. The jury fielded questions to the team comprising of Soumyajit Ray, Atish Kumar, Madhurima Chandra, and Pravesh. The team had Debashis Acharya as their faculty advisor. There was a cash prize of Rs:15,000/- with certificates of appreciation.
