The past few months haven't been easy for Ambati Rayudu. After being deemed as the ideal fit at no 4 in the Indian batting line-up for quite long, the right-hander went through a poor run in the IPL to miss the plane to the World Cup. Fate refused to smile on him once again as the selectors chose Rishabh Pant after Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of the tournament with an injury.

Adding to the frustration, the downhill doesn't seem to stop anytime soon with Mayank Agarwal being named as the replacement for the injured Vijay Shankar; marking yet another snub for the talented cricketer. While numerous fans and experts have been empathising with Rayudu for being left out of the squad yet again, a rather bizarre offer to the cricketer has been fetching attention on social media.

Taking note of Rayudu's selection saga, Iceland Cricket, on Tuesday, offered permanent citizenship to the Indian cricketer. "Agarwal has three professional wickets at 72.33 so at least Rayudu Ambati can put away his 3D glasses now. He will only need normal glasses to read the document we have prepared for him. Come join us Ambati," their Twitter handle wrote while providing a list of documents that need to be submitted for a permanent residence permit.

Ambati Rayudu is counted among one of the lesser utilised talents in Indian cricket. Averaging above 47 in ODI cricket, the 33-year-old accounts for impressive figures in the 50-over format. He had even hung up his boots in Test cricket to lay his focus entirely on the shorter formats.
