The saga of MS Dhoni's wicketkeeping gloves, bearing the Army's dagger Insignia sign, is taking a twist with each passing hour. In the latest, the ICC has denied permission to the popular Indian cricketer to wear these gloves during the ongoing World Cup.

In a media release, the ICC stated, "The ICC has responded to the BCCI to confirm the logo displayed by MS Dhoni in the previous match is not permitted to be worn on his wicket-keeping gloves at the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2019."

"The regulations for ICC events do not permit any individual message or logo to be displayed on any items of clothing or equipment. In addition to this, the logo also breaches the regulations in relation to what is permitted on wicketkeeper gloves," the media release further added.

Dhoni opened gates for heated debates and discussions after he sported the 'Balidan' badge on his wicketkeeping gloves during India's match against South Africa at Southampton on Wednesday.

With the ICC asking him to remove the sign from his gloves, the Committee of Administrators (CoA) sent a request to the global governing body to allow MS Dhoni to sport the logo on his gloves. In this regard, an ICC official said that the Council would consider BCCI's request if they were convinced that the logo did not bear any political or religious significance.

However, with the latest hearing not being ruled in the favour of MS Dhoni, it'll be interesting to see the response from CoA.

Dhoni, who was conferred upon with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regime in 2011, had even undergone training under the Para Brigade in 2015.
