Curtis Jones became the youngest first-team captain in Liverpool history as The Reds entered the fifth round of FA Cup on Wednesday.

He broke the record that stood since 1900 and belonged to Alex Raisbeck, who had led Liverpool at the age of 20 years and 250 days. Even though the obvious choice was Pedro Chirivella – the oldest and most experienced member of Liverpool's boys' brigade, Curtis was handed the captain's armband just five days after he turned 19.

The Reds' young crew did not let down the boss and the entire first-team, which was absent due to Premier League's winter break, as they clinched a 1-0 win over Shrewsbury in front of a full-house Anfield. While Jurgen Klopp was criticised for missing the crucial FA Cup match, his boys handled the task well. Their hard work and a mature display of game were rewarded at the 75th minute when Ro-Shaun Williams headed the vital own goal and sent Liverpool to the next round.

The Reds have been highly dominant at home as they are now unbeaten in 40 games at Anfield in all competitions, winning each of their last seven home matches without conceding a single goal.

Liverpool, who last won the FA Cup in 2006, are set to face eight-time winners Chelsea on March 6 at Stamford Bridge. Klopp's side is aiming for a potential treble as they are alive in Premier League, UEFA Champions League and now FA Cup too.

Jordon Henderson and Co are on the top of the Premier League table with 73 points from 25 matches. With 24 wins and a draw, Liverpool are 22 points clear of the second-placed Manchester City. The other teams in Premier League's top-four have not even touched the 60-mark.

Liverpool are six wins away from clinching the coveted title of Premier League, a wait that has lasted for as long as 30 years.
