Kolkata : Muhammad Allousha, a former assistant manager at I-League side Gokulam Kerala, and his mother have died of COVID-19 in Egypt, the club's president V.C. Praveen confirmed.

The Egyptian was recruited by the then coach of Gokulam, Bino George for the club's inaugural 2017-18 season. Allousha was with the side for two months before he left for family reasons. "2017-18 he was with us for two months.

After that he left and for family reasons he did not return. Now we came to know about it. Even his mother died due to the same reason," Praveen told IANS. "It was a big tragedy for us. I came to know from our technical director Bino George yesterday.

He is the one who was in touch with him. He came to know from his circles," he added. 2019 Durand Cup and Indian Women's League winners Gokulam also tweeted the same, paying their homage to the departed soul.

"We're deeply saddened by the death of our former assistant manager Muhammad Alloush, aged 44, after contracting Covid_19. Allousha was working with Egyptian club Tanta SC as technical director in his last job.
