Sashank wins U-16 chess title, Virani in scrabble in Hyderabad-leg

Hyderabad: Sashank Vinnakota won the U-16 Chess and Sian Virani won the U-16 Scrabble titles in the first-ever Dairy Day-SLAN 'Mind Games Championship 2019' held at Hyderabad.

SLAN (Sports Local Area Network), the first of its kind sports engagement platform for kids, amateur, and non-professional sports, is organising India's biggest 'Mind Games Championship' for children. And as a part of the event, chess and scrabble tournament are being conducted in the Under-9, Under-12 and Under-16 age group categories. Dairy Day Ice Creams, one of the leading brands in South India, is the title sponsor for the first edition of SLAN Mind Games Championship, a press release said.

The five week end championship will be held across Hyderabad (July 7th), Chennai (July 21st), Bangalore (July 28th), and Vijayawada (August 4th). And the winners of each city will travel to Hyderabad to play the finals on August 11th.
