Sharan, Veda emerge tennis champs in U-18 category
Sharan K (Global Edge School), Lalit A (St. Andrews), Veda R (Sri Medhavi Junior) and Pushti L (Meridian School) on Tuesday emerged as the tennis champions here in the Hyderabad edition of Sports for All (SFA), an inter-school Olympic style championship presented by Hero Sprint.
Hyderabad: Sharan K (Global Edge School), Lalit A (St. Andrews), Veda R (Sri Medhavi Junior) and Pushti L (Meridian School) on Tuesday emerged as the tennis champions here in the Hyderabad edition of Sports for All (SFA), an inter-school Olympic style championship presented by Hero Sprint.
Sharan K claimed the coveted U-18 boys gold medal beating Yeshwanth S of Montridge International 6-1, even as over 16,000 students will continue the battle for supremacy in 20 disciplines over the next 10 days.
Veda R took the U-18 girls title, recording a stellar 6-2 victory over Sreshta P of St. Joseph's Public School. Lalit A and Pushti L were the stars in the Under-16 competition, with the former beating Sreshta P of St. Joseph's Public School and the latter thrashing Sanskruti of Gitanjali Devshala 6-0.
In the U-16 boys football, Meluha International School tamed Nasr Boys School 3-0, courtesy a brace by Chakri.
In another match, Ajit came up with a terrific performance, pumping in two goals to help Vignan Vidyalaya (Nizampet) beat Sujatha School 3-0. In the skating championships, Meluha International School claimed both the gold medals in the U-17 500 metres (m) quads event.
Niyati Bagga stole the show in the girls' event and Puneet Narsimha Kandukur came out on top in the boys' competition.
In the Under-14 boys' 500 m quads competition, Dasari Hariharan Reddy of Maharshi Vidya Mandir won the gold, while the silver went to Hari Teji Ghantoji from Geetanjali Devashray. Muni Shri Ramachandra from Phoenix Greens International School bagged the bronze medal.
In the girls' U-14 500 m quads, Gita Shri Tulasi Tejaswani from Rainbow International School won the gold, while the silver was taken by Gauri Aggarwal of Delhi Public School.
Meanwhile, in the Taekwondo event, Harsh Girish Dayal from Glendale Academy won the gold medal in the over 78 kg category for Under-17 Boys.
In the basketball U-14 boys tournament, Sunflower Vedic School walloped Vignan Vidyalaya 12-2 and Future Kids School (A) beat Delhi Public School (B) 24-2. However, Delhi Public School (B) exacted revenge on Future Kids School and thrashed their B team 17-0.
