Amazon Shopping App Allows Bill Payments, DTH Recharges and More

Now Amazon app allows paying bills across categories like electricity, water, post-paid mobile, cooking gas, broadband and DTH recharges faster.
Now Amazon app allows paying bills across categories like electricity, water, post-paid mobile, cooking gas, broadband and DTH recharges faster. Amazon India announced the new feature on Wednesday which is now available only on Android and on the page it can be accessed by tapping the microphone icon. This update comes after two months of Alexa's debut on the Amazon shopping app for Android devices to help users search for products through voice.
How to ask Alexa to make faster bill payments?
Users need to tap the microphone icon on the Amazon shopping app and say "Alexa, pay my post-paid bill" or "Alexa, recharge my DTH". Those who paid the bills in the past will be directly taken to the billing page with pre-fetched bill details. As per Amazon India, with Alexa and Amazon Pay balance, this monthly activity can now be completed in just three clicks.
First-time customers will be navigated to the specific bill page where they can register their account and service provider before making the bill payment. To make contactless bill payments on Amazon Echo, Fire TV Stick, or any other device with Alexa built-in, users need to say "Alexa, pay my electricity bill", or "Alexa, pay my gas bill" to their devices. For existing Amazon Pay users, Alexa will remind the bill amount due to the registered account and ask customers for confirmation before processing the payment.
"Customers can also enable a voice pin on the Alexa app to secure these transactions. Once approved, Alexa will complete the transaction using Amazon Pay, and send a notification to the customer's registered mobile phone number, confirming the transaction. For new Amazon Pay customers, Alexa will send a link to register their bill details on the Amazon shopping app before proceeding with bill payment," Amazon said in a statement.
How to ask Alexa to add money, or check Amazon Pay balance?
On the Amazon shopping app, users need to tap on the microphone icon and say "Alexa, how much is my Amazon Pay balance?" and Alexa will let you know your current balance amount and show it on the app screen. You will also be able to add money easily with Alexa by saying, "Alexa, add Rs 1000 to my Amazon Pay balance". You will be navigated to the 'Add Money' page with the requested pre-filled amount.
Other devices like Amazon Echo, Fire TV Stick with Alexa built-in can also be used to experience this feature. You say "Alexa, check my Amazon Pay balance", or say "Alexa, add money to my Amazon Pay balance" and get a link over SMS to complete the transaction.
