Coronavirus: Hand Sanitiser Shortage on Online Platforms
Retailers are selling hand sanitizers at a price that is three times more than the market price of the sanitizer.
People affected by Coronavirus continue to rise globally. The count has reached 42 in India; hand sanitizers are in demand on major e-retailer platforms in India.
Amazon's grocery delivery services Grofers, Big Basket and Prime have entirely run out of hand sanitizer stocks. Amazon India's e-retail website and Flipkart are facing a severe shortage of frontline hand sanitizer brands like Dettol, Lifebuoy and Himalaya. But now we find many hand sanitizers from unpopular companies on these e-commerce sites that many of us might not have heard about.
What's adding to the hand sanitizer shortage is the increase in price. In most of the cases, retailers are selling hand sanitizers at a price that is three times more than the market price of the sanitizer. Buyers are sharing their concerns on Twitter. Some users have also shared screenshots of the overpriced sanitizers on the social platform. Have a look at the few tweets embedded below:

One of the famous producers of hand sanitizers in India, Himalaya Drug Company, on its official social media page has issued a statement clarifying that it has not increased the prices of hand sanitizers in India. "This is to clarify that we have not increased the rates of our PureHands Hand Sanitizers. The rates of our hand sanitizers have been illegally increased by unauthorised third-party sellers," Himalaya India mentioned in a statement.
