Apple has just announced the latest versions of its mobile software: iOS 13 for the iPhone, and the newly renamed iPadOS for its iPad lineups. But unlike last year's iOS 12, which ran on every device that ran iOS 11, not all iOS 12 devices will be getting the update to iOS 13 and iPadOS.

iOS 13 is coming to the following devices:

  1. iPhone XS
  2. iPhone XS Max
  3. iPhone XR
  4. iPhone X
  5. iPhone 8
  6. iPhone 8 Plus
  7. iPhone 7
  8. iPhone 7 Plus
  9. iPhone 6S
  10. iPhone 6S Plus
  11. iPhone SE
  12. iPod Touch (seventh generation)

Dropped from the list this year are the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and the recently replaced iPod Touch (sixth generation), which did get iOS 12 last year but won't be getting the new software going forward.

As for the newly renamed iPadOS, it'll be coming to the following iPad devices:

  1. iPad Pro (12.9-inch)
  2. iPad Pro (11-inch)
  3. iPad Pro (10.5-inch)
  4. iPad Pro (9.7-inch)
  5. iPad (sixth generation)
  6. iPad (fifth generation)
  7. iPad mini (fifth generation)
  8. iPad mini 4
  9. iPad Air (third generation)
  10. iPad Air 2

Not getting the update are the original iPad Air and the iPad mini 2, which previously had gotten iOS 12.

Lastly, watchOS 6 will continue to run on the Apple Watch Series 1, Series 2, Series 3, and Series 4 models, although the company warns that not all features will be available on all devices.

All three updates will offer betas today to developers, with public betas in July and a final release planned for the fall.
