Xiaomi reserved its first place with a 28 per cent market share in the second quarter of 2019. This is because Indians now prefer to buy phones ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000, the Counterpoint Market Monitor service found. It also said that smartphone shipments in India grew to 37 million units, and the growth was fuelled by new releases, price cuts on older devices and expansion of channels across all brands.

Recently, Redmi announced a new Astro White colour variant of its Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi 7S smartphones, which are available in the newly launched colour. The Redmi Note 7 Pro was announced in the Neptune Blue, Nebula Red and Space Black colour variants, while the Redmi Note 7S comes in Onyx Black, Sapphire Blue and Ruby Red colour models.
