Zoom removes 40-min limit for the holiday celebration

Highlights

Zoom wants you to catch up with family and friends on holiday without having to worry about the 40-minute time limit.

Zoom is lifting the 40-minute time limit it has for free accounts to ensure that you can easily catch up with your family and friends during this upcoming vacation. Zoom announced in a blog post that the 40-minute time limit would be removed for Hanukkah, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years, and Kwanzaa.

Zoom had also removed its 40-minute time limit for Thanksgiving this year.

So these are the exact days and times that Zoom will remove the time limit:

- From 10 AM ET (8:30 PM IST) December 17 until 6 AM ET (4:30 PM IST) on December 19, by the end of Hanukkah.

- From 10 AM ET (8:30 PM IST) December 23 until 6 AM ET (4:30 PM IST) on December 26, for Christmas Eve and Christmas.

- From 10 AM ET (8:30 PM IST) December 30 until 6 AM ET (4:30 PM IST) on January 2, for New Year's Eve, New Years Day and the end of Kwanzaa

In case you don't remember, Zoom Free Tier meetings that involve more than three people cannot last more than 40 minutes. For longer talks, you will have to end one meeting after 40 minutes and then start another. Zoom is lifting this time limit so that you can catch up with friends and family virtually during this vacation, as it is very likely that you will not meet them face to face thanks to the global pandemic.

If you're not a Zoom person and prefer Google Meet to connect with friends and family, Google allows free users to receive Google Meet calls that last up to 24 hours until March 31 of next year.
