1 woman killed, 3 hurt as overloaded auto overturns in Nagarkurnool

Nagarkurnool: A woman was killed while three others suffered critical injuries when the auto-rickshaw they were travelling in overturned and fell in a roadside ditch at Madhavanipally village of Amrabad mandal in Nagarkurnool district on Monday.

According to eyewitnesses, 11 women labourers were travelling from Maradugu village of Padara mandal to Vanguronipally village of Amrabad mandal for sowing cotton seeds.

However, the driver of the overloaded auto, which was at high speed, while taking a turn at Madhavanipally gate culvert lost control and drove it into the roadside ditch.

As the vehicle was moving at a very high speed, the heavily overloaded auto overturned causing death to one of the woman passengers and injuring three others.

Amrabad police, who rushed to the spot upon receiving information, registered a case and shifted the injured to Amrabad government hospital for treatment.

They also shifted the dead body of one women labourer to the hospital for post-mortem.

"As soon as we received the information, myself along with the other police staff rushed to the accident site and shifted the injured to the government hospital for treatment. Apart from one woman who died, two others Sailamma and Antamma, who were critically injured were immediately shifted to Amrabad hospital," said Raman Goud, Sub-Inspector of Police, Amrabad.
