Act tough against illegal layouts says KTR
Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister K T Rama Rao on Thursday directed the officials to act tough against illegal layouts in the State.
Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister K T Rama Rao on Thursday directed the officials to act tough against illegal layouts in the State.
The Minister chaired a review meeting with chairpersons and senior officials of Urban Development Authorities (UDAs) in the State.
Rama Rao recalled that the government had recently announced the Layout Regularisation Scheme programme for all the new municipalities and Corporations in the State and said the officials should act tough against illegal layouts.
The Minister also asked the officials to prepare a detailed report on the land banks within UDA limits in the State.
Stating that the HDMA was implementing innovative schemes, Rama Rao asked the officials of Urban Development Authorities to emulate HMDA's best practices.
Minister asked the officials to include details related to green and industrial zone, water bodies, development of suburban areas in the master plans.
All cities would play a major role in the growth story of Telangana in future, he said. The UDAs should ensure revenue is mobilised from available sources to fund the various development activities being planned, he said.
The Minister said that 43 per cent of the State's population lives in cities and the number would increase to 50 per cent in the coming future.
The Minister directed the officials to prepare detailed master plans for each of the UDAs keeping future development and increasing population in mind.
MA&UD Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar, UDA chairpersons Marri Yadava Reddy (Warangal), GV Rama Krishna Rao (Karimnagar), Ravinder Reddy (Siddipet), Prabhakar Reddy (Nizamabad) participated in the meeting.
