Adilabad: ZPTC, MPTC countdown concludes today
The countdown for Zilla Parishad, Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies election results will end on Tuesday (June 4) as the results will be declared after counting the votes.
Adilabad: The countdown for Zilla Parishad, Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies election results will end on Tuesday (June 4) as the results will be declared after counting the votes. With unexpected results of Assembly and Parliament elections recently held, major political parties are in the grip of suspense over the results.
Though the ruling TRS took strategic steps to capture MPTC and ZPTC seats in the joint district of Adilabad, the Parliamentary election results created doubts. All the three major parties – TRS, BJP and Congress - are strategically planning to win Mandal Parishad president and Zilla Parishad chairperson posts. In the erstwhile Adilabad district, the ruling TRS is confident of capturing four Zilla Parishad chairperson posts in Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial and Komdaram Bheem-Asifabad districts.
While Congress and BJP are anxiously waiting for the results, estimating the number of posts they are going to get. The State Elections Commission has decided to hold elections of mandal parishad president on June 7 and zilla parishad chairperson elections on June 8. On the same day co-option members elections will be held.
17 mandals in Adilabad Zilla Parishad (ZP), 18 mandals in Nirmal ZP, 16 mandals in Mancherial ZP, and 14 mandals in Asifabad ZP. While elections were held for 13 ZPTC posts in Asifabad district, one ZPTC seat was unanimous in Asifabad district.
The ruling TRS is keen to grab the ZP chairperson post, followed by Congress and BJP, which are equally decided to win the post. The TRS is yet to announce its candidate for Adilabad ZP chairperson seat. Congress has announced its candidate Charulatha Rathode for ZP chairperson.
TRS announced former Asifabad MLA Kova Lakshmi as its candidate for Asifabad ZP chairperson seat. Lakshmi was elected unanimously from Jaipur mandal in Asifabad district. The ruling TRS had announced former Chennur MLA Nallala Odelu's wife Nallala Bhagya for Mancherial ZP chairperson post. While congress party announced Ramadevi of Mandamarri for Mancherial ZP chairperson post.
Major political parties have not announced their candidates for Nirmal district so far. ZP chairperson elections will be held on June 8. Notification for mandal parishad elections will be issued on June 6 and elections will be held on June 7. Elections for the newly formed mandals will be held in old mandals. Adilabad Zilla Parishad elections will be held in Zilla Parishad Hall. While Nirmal, Mancheiral and Asifabad elections will be held in selected buildings.
Two co-option members will be selected for each Zilla Parishad. Co-option member elections will be completed before 1 pm on June 8 and Zilla Parishad chairperson, vice-chairperson elections will be conducted from 3 pm.
