AICTE-CII survey to help academia, industry
The ongoing final and full survey of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for 2019 has shortlisted more than 50 technical, management and pharmacy institutions from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Hyderabad: The ongoing final and full survey of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for 2019 has shortlisted more than 50 technical, management and pharmacy institutions from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
According to the AICTE sources, several surveys are evaluating the institutions of higher education in management, pharmacy, architecture. However, there is no such evaluation process in which both the academia and industry join hands.
It was against this backdrop that the AICTE-CII survey helps in understanding the strengths and weakness of the institutions from the academic as well as industry point of view.
Also, it will help in assessing the kind of strengths the institutes have in providing the human capital needed to the changing industrial needs of various domains.
Speaking to The Hans India, a senior official from the AICTE regional office here said that there are two steps in the AICTE-CII full survey.
In the first step, the institutions were asked to submit data of the courses being offered and other facilities available at the institution. There are two eligibility criteria for the institutions eligible to participate in two award categories.
First, the standard category of the institutions offering courses for more than 10 years. Second, the emerging category institutions imparting education for less than 10 years as on April 1, 2019.
Institutes are evaluated on their industry linkages on six parameters in every stream like chemical engineering, civil engineering and so on.
The six parameters include, "governance, curriculum, faculty, Infrastructure, services/ projects and skill development and placements," he said.
On evaluation, the AICTE- CII will be declaring the Best Industry-Linked institute in civil or other engineering streams at degree level and diploma level separately.
Similarly, there will be the best industry-linked NIT, IIT and IIT-linked institutions. That apart, the survey is also declaring the best industry-linked management institute, best industry-linked IIM.
Likewise, annually, the AICTE-CII Survey will also be ranking the best institutions in the pharmacy and architectural streams.
On the one hand, this will help the industries across the domains to identify the best institutes available to prove any support like placements, internships, incubation and startup activities.
