Abdullapurmet: A lot of excitement has been generated as to who would win the local MPP seat, for which elections are being held for the first time. The candidates are having their own calculations going by the polling in the first round and hotly debating on the percentage of votes that they would secure.

Some candidates are hoping that they would emerge victorious even if they get the least majority, while others are confident that they would get the highest majority, even while expressing the view that they would be the ultimate winners with a big majority. In this scenario, the ruling TRS and the opposition Congress party seem to have taken the polls seriously.

All parties are said to be working with the sole motive of bagging the president's post, with the respective important leaders holding special meeting with the candidates. They are having calculations on the victories and defeats.

They appear to be confident of winning all the 11 posts. At the same time, the parties are holding internal discussions on the winning/losing chances at the village level. The discussions among the party cadres are reportedly based on the money spent in wooing the voters.

Elections are being held for 11 MPTC and one ZPTC posts covering 18 villages. In the polling on May 6, 80.66 per cent was recorded. Eight villages in the mandal registered about 80 per cent. With the high percentage everyone is hopeful of emerging victorious.

While the Congress party leaders maintain that opposition to the TRS would benefit them, the pink party is confident that the welfare schemes have paved the way for the increased percentage.

Leaders of both parties are confident that they would bag MPP and vice-MPP seats. The TRS, Congress and BJP candidates are hoping to win the ZPTC seat this time.

While there are 23 MPTC seats in Hayathnagar mandal, Abdullapurmet has only 11 MPTCs. Yet, there is stiff competition among the candidates, as those winning six MPTS seats would be able to bag the MPP and vice MPP posts.

As such the TRS, Congress and BJP are striving with the sole motive of winning, even not hesitating to spend big money, going by the trends. People have to wait till May 27 for knowing which party will bag the Abdullapurmet Mandal Parishad seat.
