Tandur: Emerging as a commercial town noted for its stone and cement industries, Tandur has been facing severe traffic jams these days due to increased vehicles. A large number of vehicles pass through the town for transporting cement, tiles and other minerals. Bad signalling system has worsened the situation even further.
Heavy traffic jams are seen during peak hours especially from 8 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 6 pm. Only one way from William Moon School to Indira Chowk is operational as the CC road works are being done on the other side, compounding traffic woes.
The improper functioning of traffic signals result in frequent traffic jams at major junctions, causing severe inconvenience to commuters. Added to this, people park on the roads result in congestion of roads even further and pedestrians too have been facing difficulties.
Locals demanded the authorities concerned to look into the matter and take necessary measures to resolve the issue. CI Ravi Kumar told The Hans India that bad roads in the town and irresponsible parking of vehicles in front of shopping complexes have resulted in frequent traffic jams.
He said that he would conduct a review meeting with Municipal and R&B officials soon to address the issue. Ravi Kumar said that it is not correct to blame police officials and sought people's cooperation to resolve the menace.
