Karimnagar: Vishwa Guru Basaveshwara's teachings and aspirations are always inspirational, stated District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed after paying tributes to Basaveshwara on his birth anniversary here on Tuesday. Sarfaraz along with district officials paid tributes by garlanding the portrait of Basaveshwara at a programme organised by District Backward Class Welfare Department at the Collectorate conference hall here.

The chief guest at the programme, Collector Sarfaraz said that Basaveshwara was born in 1134 in Basavan Bagewadi in north Karnataka State and strived hard to eliminate caste discrimination and gender inequality, which was rooted in the society.

With his excellent skills of literature, Basaveshwara united all people irrespective of religion, caste and creed. There is a great recognition to his literature and preachings in the world till today. The tradition he preached at that time was established as Lingayuth Dharmam further and still continuing, he said.

The Collector said that Basaveshwara is always inspirational to all generations, who preached that all people are equal and there is no religion and no caste.

Before to Karl Marx, Basaveshwara taught about equality and socialism and strived hard to establish them. Everyone must take Basaveshwara as an inspiration and must move forward in their life.

District revenue officer Bikshu Nayak, district BC development officer Ranga Reddy, excise department superintendent Chandrashekar, agriculture officer Sridhar, horticulture officer Srinivas, information department deputy director P Bhaskar,

administrative officer of the Collectorate P Raj Kumar are present along with others.
