Mahabubabad: The country has witnessed a rapid growth since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by Narendra Modi forged to power in 2014, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said.

Campaigning for Mahabubabad Lok Sabha candidate Jatoth Hussain Naik here on Tuesday, Rajnath Singh said that the BJP government changed the face of the nation by ensuring all-round development in last five years.

"We not only focused on infrastructure but also strengthened our armed forces," Singh said, stating that they gave top priority to national security.

The Congress has always tried to politicise by making baseless allegations against the BJP government, he said, referring to the Rafale jets deal. The then Congress government didn't warn Pakistan when Mumbai reeled under terror attack in 2008, he said, stating that Congress has no guts to do so.

The Congress is not ready to support BJP government, moreover it's trying to politicise it, he alleged, referring to Balakot airstrikes that decimated terror groups of Pakistan.

India played a major role in liberalising Bangladesh from Pakistan in 1971. Everyone irrespective of party affiliations appreciated the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for her bold decisions.

But the same Congress is not ready to appreciate Prime Minister Narendra Modi who ordered airstrikes to control the Pakistani terrorists, he said.

"India is now the fourth country in the world to have anti-satellite (ASAT) missile, christened as Mission Shakti, after United States, Russia and China," Singh said, claiming credit for BJP government's efforts to protect its satellites from enemy attacks.

He promised that the BJP government would focus on tribal issues especially podu land pattas if it was voted to power. He said that Modi government constructed 1.25 lakh houses for poor, whereas the UPA government was able to provide just 25 lakh houses in 10 years.

Singh said that BJP was giving Rs 6,000 a year to 12 crore farmer families who own up to two hectares of cultivable land under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
