Warangal: Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya has accused the State government of being insensitive even though more than 20 Intermediate students had committed suicide reportedly due to failure in their exams.

He was at Kazipet on Tuesday to console Modem Satyanarayana and Rama, parents of Modem Bhanukiran Goud, who ended his life after he failed in Intermediate.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, he said that it was unfortunate that the government has blithe concern towards the bereaved families, who lost their wards due to bungling of Intermediate results.

"Someone on behalf of the government would have consoled the families of Intermediate students, who took extreme step," Dattatreya said and demanded the government to announce an ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh each to the families of those students, who ended their lives after they failed in the Intermediate examinations.

Referring to the remarks of Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) secretary A Ashok that only those students, whose academic performance was poor, had committed suicide, the BJP leader said that it's not fair to pass such frivolous statements that undermine the efforts of the students. He demanded the government to place Ashok under suspension until the whole results goof-up episode is probed. He also demanded the government to strip Education Ministry post from G Jagadish Reddy. The Minister should have taken the moral responsibility and resigned from the post, he added.

He said that it's regrettable if Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao allows those, who were behind the Intermediate results fiasco go scot free. "The Globarena Technologies Private Limited should be blacklisted," Dattatreya said, demanding the government to order an inquiry with a sitting High Court judge.

A BJP delegation will approach the President and Union Home Minister for justice if the State government ignores their demand to take stringent action against the culprits, he said, referring to their two-day Delhi tour from May 9. He said that BJP will extend its support to the victims' families.

Later, he also consoled the parents of another student Aravind at Narsapur under Tarigoppula mandal. Senior leaders Perala Sekhar Rao, Marthineni Dharma Rao, Chintha Samba Murthy, Edla Ashok Reddy, Enugula Rakesh Reddy and Rao Amarender Reddy were among others present.
