Party State unit president K Laxman says that the project was built with public funds and as such the people have every right to know every aspect of it, including the expenditure on it
Hyderabad: State BJP president K Laxman on Monday demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao release a white paper on the expenditure incurred on the Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project (KLIP) and the benefits accrued to the farmers in the State.
Addressing the media here, he said the project was being constructed with public funds and people have every right to know all the details pertaining to the project, he added.
Saying that the TRS chief is not able to keep his politics aside, he said if KCR is really sincere on getting national project status to the KLIP, he should have met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"Neither he attended the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister on receiving invitation nor had he attended the NITI- Ayog meeting.
He should leave petty politics aside and rise above the political considerations for the interests of Telangana State and people," he said The BJP leader said that there was no invitation from the State government to him for the inauguration of the KLIP, he noted, "We are not working for earning name or fame.
But, the fact of the matter is that KLIP is not possible without the approvals given by the BJP-led central government.
He ridiculed the claims of the Congress leaders in Telangana State that their party is the main opposition and an alternative to the TRS in Telangana Sate. The Congress has not won a single seat in 18 states. But the BJP has got more than 50 per cent of the votes in 18 seats.
The Lok Sabha elections proved that there is no place in the country which is not represented by the saffron party.
Contrary to this, "While the senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily recommending a major surgery for the Congress, the Congress chief Rahul Gandhi had left the country and staying abroad. There is no word about when he would return to the country," he said.
Calling the Congress had decayed beyond rejuvenation and is on the death beat. But the Congress leaders in Telangana State were boasting that it was the only alternative to the TRS.
Admitting that several leaders are ready to join the party, he said it is only a beginning and there will be many more to come into the party fold.
The admission into the party will be as per the party constitution. When any MLA from other parties is interested in joining the party, he or she should do
so in accordance with the party constitution.
