BJP leaders held during protest

RANGAREDDY: In a dramatic turn of events, a protest organised by BJP leaders in Rangareddy took a tumultuous course as police intervened and arrested several demonstrators. The protest was staged in opposition to the sale of government land in the Budvel area, which was slated for auction by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development (HMD) authority. The BJP leaders, led by Rangareddy district president Bokka Narasimha Reddy, alleged that the Telangana government, under chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, was involved in the questionable sale of public lands to private entities. The leaders, who attempted to stage a dharna (sit-in protest) at the designated auction site in Budvel, were met with a heavy police presence that resulted in a heated confrontation.

Scuffle broke out between the BJP leaders and police as the latter sought to prevent the protest from escalating. Consequently, a number of BJP leaders were detained and taken to the Rajendranagar police station.

Speaking passionately about the issue, Bokka Narasimha Reddy accused the Telangana government of exploiting the lands belonging to economically disadvantaged individuals. He criticised the government’s decision to auction off valuable public land for monetary gain without considering the dire need for development in the region. He warned that if BJP comes to power, a thorough investigation into the transactions involving the purchase of auctioned lands would be launched.

Another prominent BJP leader, Tulla Virender Goud, echoed Reddy’s sentiments and lambasted the State government’s handling of public assets. He criticised the government’s financial practices, asserting that the sale of public lands was emblematic of its fiscal mismanagement.
