Centre contradicts Telangana State's claims
Union health ministry stated that India has the lowest deaths (0.49 per lakh) compared to other countries where lockdown was eased
Hyderabad: While the talk doing round is how ease of lockdown has led to a big spike of cases in India and the situation is no different in a majority of the states including Telangana, the Centre released some statistics to contradict this.
Telangana's overall Covid count as on Saturday stood at 3,496 cases with 123 deaths. However, the health department here attributed a big spike of cases and deaths to ease of lockdown restrictions.
Citing WHO's situation report of June 6, the union health ministry stated that India has the lowest deaths (0.49 per lakh) compared to other countries where lockdown was eased. Germany, Italy, UK and Spain have higher death rates per lakh population than India. Also, if new cases per lakh population is also considered, India has the lowest (17.32 cases) while Germany, Italy, UK and Spain are way above it. Further, the union health ministry stated that India's response to Covid-19 indicates collective management. It may be mentioned here that India's Covid tally is leaping up everyday and the country is at present placed sixth in the most worst affected countries list. The number of confirmed cases is 2,46,628 and number of deaths is 6,929.
