Chanchalguda: Cops looking out for mischief-mongers
Leaders like Amjedullah Khan of MBT took up the matter with the city Police Commissioner. “Commissioner has assured me that very soon the original person who has made that audio message will be caught. This can only happen when we help the Hyderabad police in nabbing the real culprit,” said Khan
Chanchalguda: Following rumours on social media about the possibility of Hyderabad facing Delhi-like riots, people are growing restive on Monday. While some found this to be a handiwork of mischief-mongers, others were seen worried and as the accent (a voice message) appears to be that of a local.
A man claiming to be Rahmat Shareef, in a clear voice asked people to come out of their slumber. He claimed to have observed increased influx in the past one week from northern states of UP and Bihar, who were taking up labour work. "They are not labourers and this is an indication of the possibility of Delhi-like situation in the future. Women must be ready with chilli powder," the voice claims.
Some other voice messages are also under circulation alerting about similar possibilities, while referring to the recent programmes by right wing groups in the city.
Meanwhile, one of the lesser known online portals 'inhandwriter' carried with the title 'Hyderabad is next target after Delhi as Muslims not prepared to defend' claimed that 'inside sources' confirmed that Hyderabad would be the next target for the BJP for horrifying Indian Muslims. "And it's been told by all Imams in the mosques of Hyderabad to worship more and seek Almighty's help. Yes, it's recommended that Muslims in Hyderabad shouldn't worry, but at the same time be prepared." The article is said to be in wide circulation in Dalit-dominated Whatsapp groups.
While trusting the city police that they will not allow one-sided violence like Delhi to happen in Hyderabad, the writer says "Defending our families and ourselves is itself a great deed and this is called struggle."
Leaders like Amjedullah Khan of MBT took up the matter with the city Police Commissioner who assured to investigate the matter and find out who were spreading rumours on social media. "Commissioner has assured me that very soon that original person who has made that audio message will be caught.
