Hyderabad: One and a half kilograms of gold of foreign origin hidden in the parts of an electric motor were found here on Sunday in a bag abandoned near an international baggage carousel at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

A staff of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) spotted the unattended bag from the control room and notified the squad for bomb detection and disposal. The team hurried to the spot and found that no explosives were in the bag after searching. However, the security officials noticed a custom motor when the bag was physically inspected, and the same was informed to RGIA customs officials.

The bag was checked by X-BIS, and they found and removed suspicious pictures of the motor. "When we scratched the pieces, we noticed the yellow metal," said one officer, adding that the contraband was handed over for further investigation to customs officials.
