The city police on Monday started a new initiative Cyber Smart programme to create awareness among students on cybercrimes.

Hyderabad: The city police on Monday started a new initiative Cyber Smart programme to create awareness among students on cybercrimes.

City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar along with Additional CP Crimes and SIT Shikha Goel inaugurated the six-day Cyber Internship Programme for students at Commissioner's office in Hyderabad.

The Commissioner said that the Cyber Smart programme will be coordinated by Rakshit Tandon, a cyber security expert, who will introduce the students to cybercrimes and cybersecurity and will equip them to deal with social media crimes, securing of websites, online frauds etc.

During the programme, more than 100 students including 70 girl students will interact with the cybercrime police and also visit the cyber cell.

The students will get awareness on the technical initiatives being implemented in the police department, its advantages and risks and challenges involved in it and after training they might become cyber commandos.

Further, the cyber commandos will go back to their colleges and further educate the other students. Joint CP, Central Crime Station, DD Avinash Mohanty, Vice Chairman of Guru Nanak Institutions Gagandeep Singh Kohli and other senior police officials attended the programme.
