Siricilla: District Collector Venkatram Reddy on Tuesday ordered officials to conduct the Zilla Parishad elections in fair and smooth manner without any untoward incidents.

The Collector inspected the nomination centres of Gabbiraopet, Veernapalli and Yellareddypet for which the elections would be held in the first phase and enquired about the nomination process.

After examining the nomination papers, the Collector said that the Returning Officers' decision will be considered as final, so they must go through the nomination papers properly, if needed they must give advice and suggestions to candidates following the rules and regulations that are issued by the Election Commission.

For the convenience of contestants, a special help desk must be established at the nomination centres along with providing drinking water facility and installing temporary tents, ordered the Collector.

The last day for filing of nomination for the first phase of elections is on April 24. So large number of people may come for filing nominations, the officials must be prepared for that and handle the situation without any untoward incidents. The MPDO's and Tahsildars must work in coordination with each other and complete the nomination process successfully, he added.

The Collector informed that in the first phase, the ZP elections will be held in four mandals for four ZPTCs and 44 MPTCs. As the model code of conduct has come into effect, no one should fix hoardings and flexies. If there are any doubts, the contestants can approach the assistant election officer and clear their doubts, he added.

The Deputy CEO and Election Coordinating Officer Gautham Reddy, MPDO's Surendar Reddy and Chiranjeevi were present along with Yellareddypet Tahsildar Srikanth.
