Hanamkonda: The Congress workers celebrated the 36th Foundation Day of All India Mahila Congress (AIMC) here on Monday. Hoisting the party flag on the premises of Congress Bhavan, Greater Warangal Mahila Congress Chairman Banka Sarala Sampath Yadav criticised the TRS government for ignoring women, who also played a crucial role in the Telangana Movement.

"The TRS government hoodwinked all sections of the society. The government, which promised interest-free loans for self-help groups (SHGs), failed to provide them. This apart, the Abhaya Hastham, a co-contributory pension scheme for the women, was also diluted," Sarala said.

She said that the TRS government has the uncanny knack of deceiving the people by diverting the attention with improbable promises. "While women in other parts of the country are making strides on developmental path, its other way around in Telangana," she said. Family rule is in force in Bangaru Telangana, she alleged, demanding the government to provide equal opportunities to women in all fields.

Greater Warangal Congress Committee President Katla Srinivas Rao, former corporator Naseem Jahan, Urban Mahila Congress vice-president thula Kavitha Yadava, Banka Sampath Yadava, Bhagyalaxmi, Madhavi, Mounika, Swaroopa, Radha, Shyamala, Kanakalaxmi, Rajyalaxmi, Lavanya and Chandramma were among others present.
