Congress sets deadline: Solve problems of Mid-Manair affected villages by Dec 30
CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that they would take up the issue of villages affected by Mid-Manair project in the ensuing Assembly session.
Karimnagar: CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that they would take up the issue of villages affected by Mid-Manair project in the ensuing Assembly session. He participated in a face-to-face programme along with MLC Jeevan Reddy and TPCC Working President Ponnam Prabhakar and the people of the submerged villages under the reservoir here on Monday.
After listening to the plight of the people of the submerged villages, Vikramarka assured them that he would raise a question in the Assembly session. He said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said that lakhs of rupees were spent on the construction of Kaleshwaram Project, but not even a single acre was irrigated so far with this project waters. But it multiplied the problems of submerged villages, he added.
Vikramarka questioned as to why the government is delaying the payment of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the submerged villages. Many projects were constructed during the Congress regime, but nowhere did the problem of submerged villages had come to the fore, he stated. The CLP leader set a deadline of December 30 to the State government to redress the problems of the victims.
MLC Jeevan Reddy said he would question the government in the legislature about solving the problems of the flooded villages. He reminded that the Congress, when it was in power at the Centre, had enforced the 2013 Land Acquisition Act with the intention of bringing justice to the people of the submerged villages.
Rajya Sabha Member Santosh Rao suggested that the submerged villages should be adopted and developed instead of taking up the Green Challenge of planting saplings. The State government had failed in providing jobs as unemployment is on the rise in the State besides providing unemployment benefits to the jobless youth as the government promised, he pointed out.
