Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) may tread cautiously in taking disciplinary action on Munugodu MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy so that he does not get any advantage.

The TPCC may announce its decision soon on the action to be taken on the MLA as the disciplinary committee has conveyed his opinions to the AICC. According to confidential sources the committee has strongly recommended for action on the leader.

According to the sources in the party, the disciplinary committee being headed by M Kodanda Reddy which has examined the reply given by the MLA to the show-cause notice served on him has opined that the TPCC should take action against him.

The sources said though the party has given show-cause notice to Rajagopal Reddy in September 2018, it has not taken any action on him after receiving his explanation. They said the TPCC has spared Rajagopal Reddy from taking any action as the elections to the Assembly were around the corner.

He was elected MLA from the party in the Assembly polls held in December 2018. However, this has given a long rope to the rebel leader and he has again started criticising the party. Sources said not just for one time, but he has raised banner of revolt against the party for three times.

He continued his tirade against the party even after being served the show-cause notice. He went on to criticise the party, and the State leadership. His remarks have demoralised the party workers.

With this the disciplinary committee has come to the conclusion that he should not be spared this time and action should be taken on him so that the discipline could be restored in the party. According to party leaders, expulsion of the MLA would give him advantage and they have been suggesting desisting from such action. They said if expelled he could join the other party.

Even the legal experts have told the TPCC leaders that if expelled, Rajagopal Reddy could join the other party and could escape from the noose of the Anti-Defection Law.They have suggested that the TPCC suspend the MLA from the party so that he would not be able to join the other party. Even if he joins the other party after the suspension the Anti-Defection Law could be unleashed.

The Congress leaders said they have conveyed the situation to the All India Congress Committee arising out of the adverse comments of Rajagopal Reddy. They said the AICC may also accept the suggestions of the disciplinary committee and may endorse the action to be taken against the MLA.
