Congress urges Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to seek Gutha's scalp
The Congress on Friday has urged Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to seek the resignation of Legislative Council chairman Gutha Sukhendar Reddy as he has been abusing power in the bypoll to the Huzurnagar Assembly Constituency.
Hyderabad: The Congress on Friday has urged Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to seek the resignation of Legislative Council chairman Gutha Sukhendar Reddy as he has been abusing power in the bypoll to the Huzurnagar Assembly Constituency.
TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy has written a letter to the Governor in this regard, which was released by leader of CLP in Assembly Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka at a media meet.
Vikramarka, along with Congress Kisan Cell national vice president M Kodanda Reddy, said that the ruling party and the Council chairman have been misusing the official machinery to win the polls.
He said that never like in the past ruling party has given responsibility of the polls to a minister for each Mandal and to an MLA to each village of Huzurnagar constituency.
He said that Legislative Council chairman Gutha Sukhendar Reddy has been abusing his position. He alleged that Sukhendar Reddy's son and son's father in law have been given sub-contract works.
Meanwhile in the letter addressed to the Governor, PCC president Uttam said that Sukhender Reddy was interfering in Huzurnagar by-elections.
He said, "Right from Independence, presiding officers of both houses of Parliament and of Legislative in all States have kept away from direct politics during the period of their tenure. But Sukhender Reddy is interfering on a daily basis in Huzurnagar by-elections and lowering the dignity of the office."
Uttam alleged that Sukhender Reddy, in the last 3-4 days, called Palakeedu ZPTC Motilal Naik, Sarpanch Jitender Reddy and a large number of other Congress leaders from Huzurnagar Assembly constituency and gave them large amounts of cash in his house in Film Nagar in Hyderabad and persuaded them to join TRS party.
"It is being said by these Congress leaders that he is openly telling these and other leaders that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has told him that he will be made minister in place of Malla Reddy or Jagdish Reddy, if TRS party wins the Huzurnagar by-election," he said.
"Even more serious matter is that of Gutha Sukender Reddy's son Amit Reddy being directly involved as a government contractor. Amit firm is doing several works worth thousands of crores of rupees in irrigation and drinking water projects in the State of Telangana," he said.
The TPCC Chief further alleged that Sukender Reddy who has been elected as MP from the Congress in 2014, has defected to ruling TRS party in 2015 for the sake of irrigation contracts of thousands of crores given to his son Amit Reddy and father-in-law of his son Sudarshan Reddy.
