Cops keep close vigil on bus depots in city
On instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, police have beefed up security at all bus depots in the city to quell the RTC strike which entered the ninth day on Sunday.
Hyderabad: On instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, police have beefed up security at all bus depots in the city to quell the RTC strike which entered the ninth day on Sunday.
Police took all the bus depots in the city under their control and took agitating RTC workers into preventive custody. The RTC workers intensified their stir following the death of an RTC bus driver who had set himself on fire in Khammam and succumbed while undergoing treatment at Apollo hospital in Hyderabad.
Police are later releasing the detained RTC workers on bail. Till now no cases have been registered against any RTC JAC leader and workers.
To maintain law and order at the bus depots, police deployed more than 40 police personnel at each depot.
They are allowing the persons into the depots only on the prior permission from the senior police officials. At Uppal bus depot, which was the headquarters for districts earlier in erstwhile AP namely Medak, Nalgonda, Rangareddy, Mahabubnagar and Hyderabad, more than 60 police personnel are deployed to deal with the situation.
Under the supervision of DCP, Additional DCP, ACP, 3 Inspectors, 5 Sub-Inspectors, 4 ASIs, 25 police constables, 15 women police constables and traffic personnel are working round the clock in different shifts at the depots.
In addition, 4 fire extinguishers, 4 sand buckets and sufficient water have been arranged at the depots as preventive measure. On the other hand, police are investigation the incidents of stone pelting and damaging of RTC in some districts.
In Hyderabad, to deal with the RTC strike, the police are installing more cameras at bus depots. Speaking to The Hans India, City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said about 3 lakh cameras are already installed in the city and each and every important centre is under CCTV camera surveillance.
Since important bus depots like MGBS, JBS and other important bus stands are already covered under CC cameras, and to avoid any untoward incidents at the other bus depots in the city and outskirts, senior police officials are guiding the respective depot managements to install more CC cameras at their depots.
