Cops to get breather as department mulls weekly offs: SP Rema Rajeshwari

Mahbubnagar: With an aim to reduce the work pressure and provide relief to police officials working round-the-clock, Mahbubnagar Superintendent of Police Rema Rajeshwari is said to have proposed weekly offs to police personnel working in the district.

However, the proposal is still in the planning stage and the district police are devising modalities as to how they would manage the shortage of staff. As already there is an acute shortage of police personnel in various police stations across the district, the SP is said to have been weighing pros and cons.

As part of the plan, the sources in the Police department informed that based on the services and different categories of police personnel, the department is said to be categorising the duties of cops accordingly and then finally may take a decision in favour of granting one-day weekly off to the policemen.

"We are proposing to grant one-day weekly off to police personnel so that they can get some relief and can work with more enthusiasm. Though they are trained to deal with pressure and work in a challenging environment, keeping in the interests of the health of the police personnel, we are thinking in favour of granting one-day weekly off," informed the SP.
