Cotton Corporation of India provides Minimum support pric to farmers: Collector D Divya

Adilabad: District Collector D Divya said that Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) will provide minimum support price (MSP) to the farmers' produce. Addressing a meeting with the officials of agriculture, marketing and other departments at the Collector's camp office here on Wednesday.

She told the farmers not to spray water on cotton as the officials at government procurement centres will check the moisture content of the cotton before purchasing. If they found moisture more than 12 per cent then the CCI will not purchase the produce, she said. The agriculture extinction officers were told to explain the farmers to bring dry cotton to the market and to bring relevant documents like pattadar passbook, bank account, Aadhar Xerox along with their produce.

The Collector explained that CCI will purchase cotton with 8 per cent moisture content at Rs 5,550. Rs 55 will be cut per each one percent of moisture, which has more than 12 per cent. She instructed Rythu Sangham leaders, agriculture extention officers, and DRDA staff to conduct mandal-level meetings to create awareness. She also told to print pamphlets and distribute in every village, to arrange notice boards in markets yards and told the market staff to maintain dress code. Sub-Collector Gopi, district rural development officer Rajeshwar Rathod, forest development officer Chandrashekar, Markfed district manager Pullaiah, marketing, agriculture officers were present.
