Hyderabad: CPI State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy on Tuesday demanded that all kinds of facilities in government hospitals be provided and make the staff permanent.

Addressing the second 'maha sabha' of Telangana Medical Contract Workers' Union, chief guest Chada wanted the government to implement minimum wages to the employees of hospitals.

State AITUC president T Narsimhan and general secretary Ujjini Ratnakar Rao accused both the Central and the State governments of 'looting' workers and denying them minimum wages by implementing contract system.

They called for implementation of SC order on equal work and equal pay and minimum wages.

The leaders condemned the ruling parties for promising before the elections to scrap the contract system and failing to implement it.

Md Yousuf, union president, was in the chair.

Among those present were union president N Vittal, general secretary N Narayan Reddy, AITUC vice-president Prem Pavani, AITUC city secretary M Narsimha, union general secretary B Narayan Reddy, assistant secretary Lakshmibai, secretary Hasina Begum, union leaders Palla Devender Reddy, Md Imran, Dasarath, Adam, Sanjiva and Boddupalli Kishan.

The maha sabha adopted resolutions seeking permanent status for contract/outsourcing employees, revision of GO 68 to fix Rs.18,000 as minimum wage, payment of PRC salaries to outsourcing staff, grant of 35 holidays as given to permanent staff, extension of wages to security staff as per GO 43, payment of wages to patient care employees, proper implementation of ESI and PF, release of two pairs of clothes/boots every year.

It called for agitation by members to secure the demands.
