Asibabad: District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu suggested the farmers to check the back side of the leaves for worms, after cotton and maize plants grow. He addressed an awareness and training programme at the Collector's conference hall in Asifabad on Wednesday, in which Agriculture Extension Officers (AEO), Agriculture Officers (AO), Assistant Directors of Agriculture (ADA), Mandal Agricultural Officers (MAOs) and others participated.

The Collector explained how to prevent Pink Boll worm that attacks cotton crop and other insects that attack maize crop. He told the officials to motivate the farmers to take up aquaculture. He observed that it is better to cultivate maize as inner crop and the less worried corn as inter crop. In order to protect crops, pesticide solution should be sprayed in the evenings, two times per day over a period of 15 days and only two or three time during the harvest period,he suggested.

while spraying pesticides, the Collector warned the farmers to cover their face and carefully spray so that the pesticide will not get into their face, mouth and eyes. He also enquired whether there are any problems with farmers' insurance plans.

Collector Hanumanthu wanted the officials to perform their duties assigned to them perfectly and without negligence. He wanted the officials to react to every problem of the farmers quickly. The Collector released a comprehensive ownership booklet for farmers on the occasion.

Agriculture Officer Bhagya Lakshmi, ADAs, AEOs, MAOs and others were present.
